Tips and Info

- Drink a minimum of 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water per day; or drink a minimum of 64 oz of water per day; try to drink 100 oz of water per day.

- The best time to do your asana (physical) practice is in the morning when you first get up, before eating.  If you can't do this, try to wait 4-6 hours after eating to do asana practice.

- Refrain from drinking water up to 1 hour before your asana practice, and limit your water intake during the asana practice.

- Filtered/purified water is better to drink than regular tap water.  Be cautious with your bottled water choices.  Do not drink bottled water which lists sodium in the ingredients.  Do not drink Dasani or Aquafina...they have openly admitted this water is merely tap water!! (The Kind Diet, Alicia Silverstone, p. 134).

- Explore the neti pot.  Or as I have found, another comparable option is the NeilMed Sinus Rinse.  This is a great, natural way to combat sinus and allergy problems, as well as being helpful in just simply cleansing the nasal passages, helping your body flush out the many toxins it has been breathing in all day everyday.  I don't suffer too bad from allergies, so I find that I only need to do the rinse once per day.  If you do suffer from allergies or sinus troubles, two times per day might be more beneficial.  It's a little weird at first to think of pouring/shooting salt water up your nose...but after a few times, and if done on a regular basis, it really becomes second nature.  Give it a try! I am sure there are many versions out there, but I use the NeilMed brand.  It can be found at most grocery stores pretty easily.  Website is:  www.neilmed.com
